Job Description
Measurement Lab Technician - Mayser Polymer USA, Inc.
Reports to:
Manager, Quality Manager

The Measurement Lab Technician leads technical analysis in the area of part measurement, dimensional gauging, and lab equipment.

Key job tasks:
o Performs, tracks and documents all internal testing.
o Prepares reports for any and all testing functions when necessary.
o Defines and procures all required measurement equipment.
o Controls calibration of gages and test equipment. Maintains the Calibration Log and the Calibration schedule. Responsible for the selection and coordination of outside calibration services, where these activities cannot be performed in-plant.
o Acts as a technical liaison with internal customers, including development of measurement methods, providing technical interpretation of measurement results and specifications, and provides general consultation on metrology issues.
o Supports PPAP activites by conducting Gage R&R Studies, or other measurement requests as appropriate. Responsible for insuring that gaging systems meet or exceed customer requirements.
o Handles dimensional inspection requests using either standard gaging or CMM techniques. Prepares layout reports. Marks drawings for PPAP submissions as required.
o Support Continuous Improvement Activities by coordinating special data and measurement requests and data collection activities.
o Coordinate and track testing with external laboratories on new product launches and or engineering changes.
o Coordinate and communicate measurement and testing concepts and results with support staff at Mayser Germany.
o Any other task pertaining to the job as may be assigned by Management.
Qualifications
Basic required:
o Thorough knowledge of how to interpret drawings.
o Demonstrate knowledge of Statistical Quality Control and Gage R&R Studies.
o Ability to use specialized measurement, test and inspection equipment.
o Understanding and use of CMM equipment and software. Able to perform manual measurements on a surface plate, as required.
o Good written and oral communication skills.
o Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, especially Word and Excel. PowerPoint a plus.
o Must function well as an active part of a Team.
o Associates Degree in a technical field, or equivalent training or experience.
Preferred
Qualifications:
o Minimum 5 years experience in an automotive manufacturing setting, with emphasis on plastic molded parts and electronics a plus.
o Educational background in engineering or technical course work.
o Familiar with the requirements of ISO/TS: 16949 and ISO 14001, as amended.
o Previous experience in maintaining metrology equipment, and equipment repair as needed.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
